Role Templates
Role templates let you define a named set of permissions once and reuse it when inviting new members. Instead of configuring permissions from scratch each time, you pick a template and the new member gets the right access immediately.
Creating a role template
- Go to Profile → Role Templates from your account navigation.
- Click Create role template.
- Give the template a clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Tournament Coordinator", "Referee", "Club Manager", "Read-Only Staff").
- Use the permission matrix to select which resources this role can access and which actions it can perform on each.
- Click Save.
The permission matrix
The permission matrix shows a list of resources (areas of the platform) and the actions available for each. For each resource, you can grant or deny specific actions:
- View / Read — see the data
- Create — add new items
- Edit / Update — modify existing items
- Delete — remove items
You can mix and match — for example, giving a role the ability to view and edit tournaments, but not create or delete them.
Assigning a template to a member
When inviting a member (see Members and Roles), you will see a dropdown to select a role. Any templates you have created will appear in that list.
Custom roles (one-off)
In addition to templates (which are reusable), you can create a custom role for a specific member without saving it as a template. This is useful when a single person needs a unique permission configuration that will not be reused.
Editing or deleting templates
- Go to Profile → Role Templates.
- Click on the template name or its edit action.
- Modify the name or permission matrix.
- Save, or delete the template if it is no longer needed.
Note: Deleting a template does not remove the permissions from members who were already assigned that template. Their existing access is preserved.
